Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment,Manusha Nanayakkara has opened up on prioritizing future plans regarding housing projects for migrant workers.
He explained that in the collaboration with the National Housing Development Authority, the government is planning to support Sri Lanka’s migrant workers to build houses of their choice.
Furthermore, he stated that the migrant workers will get the chance to repay the housing loan in installments for which the government will facilitate necessary housing approvals.
The National Housing Development Authority will look into preferred housing locations and ensure migrant workers have the opportunity to select the house’s structure. The migrant workers can also choose to construct or rebuild a house of choice in their hometowns as well.
