Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath met United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sri Lanka Marc-André Franche on Monday (7) to discuss Sri Lanka’s priorities ahead of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, with discussions focusing on key issues relating to the upcoming UNGA session.
The two sides also discussed Sri Lanka’s more than 70-year partnership with the United Nations, the UN80 initiative, the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) and Sri Lanka’s Third Voluntary National Review on the Sustainable Development Goals.
Minister Herath reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to continued engagement with the UN system and its dedication to multilateralism.
