Police said the suspect, a 34-year-old resident of Madiwela, Kotte, was arrested today by officers attached to the Mirihana Police Station.

Investigations revealed that the assault had occurred after the suspect attempted to obtain fuel without a QR code. When the fuel station employee informed him that fuel could not be issued without the required QR code, an argument had ensued, leading to the assault.

However, during the investigation, the assaulted employee reportedly requested Police to settle the matter amicably. Accordingly, Police said the suspect was severely warned and the matter was settled.

The victim has also informed Police that he does not wish to pursue the complaint further.
