Recalled all-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva struck a blistering unbeaten 95 to steer Team B to a six-wicket win over Team A in a practice T20 match organized by Sri Lanka Cricket, as selectors stepped up preparations ahead of the upcoming Pakistan tour and the ICC T20 World Cup.
The match was played at the R. Premadasa Stadium.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Team A posted a competitive 206 for 4, powered by captain Dasun Shanaka’s unbeaten 73 off 33 balls and former T20I skipper Charith Asalanka’s unbeaten 53. The duo combined in a decisive late partnership to push the total past the 200 mark.
In reply, Team B suffered early setbacks, losing both openers inside the powerplay. However, de Silva and Janith Liyanage rebuilt the innings with a match-defining 119-run partnership. De Silva was the standout, smashing 95 not out off 45 balls at a strike rate of over 210, while Liyanage provided solid support with a half-century.
Team B reached the target in the 19th over, sealing the chase comfortably and securing an important win in the practice fixture, which offered valuable match exposure as Sri Lanka fine-tunes its squad ahead of the Pakistan tour..
